We understand that audio, and especially car audio, is subjective. Everyone hears things slightly differently, picks up frequencies differently, enjoys music differently. Our aim in all of our audio installations is to try and take that subjectivity out of what we’re doing, and instead give an excellent baseline platform to be tweaked to the customer’s specifications. By using tools like our real-time analyser, we can tune a system to be as acoustically neutral as possible, and then from there up the mids, or decrease the highs, or crank the bass so loud the windows rattle. We don’t have a showroom for our audio setups for two reasons:
Listening to speakers in a demo board isn’t a very reliable indicator of how they’ll sound in a car.
We build all of our systems from the ground up based on our clients needs, not what we keep in the storeroom/board. Different brands all have sllightly different strengths and weaknesses, so we take that into account when we recommend a product.
The hardest part of car audio is working to restrictions you have no control over, like mounting space. In a home theatre system the amplifier can almost be a centrepiece, but in a car it (usually) needs to be hidden out of sight. This means we need to come up with options like this folding shelf we built for a BMW M5, allowing us full access to the DSP and amplfiiers for tuning, but also letting us hide it all away when we don’t need to see it. Carpeted in a near-perfect match for the BMW boot interior means that there’s no visible aftermarket installation anywhere.
While we certainly have the skills for big custom sound installations, integration is our specialty. We source or create harnesses in order to give us a seamless and reversible install, such as in this Porsche GT3. We sourced a non-working genuine amplifier, removed the connector and used that to allow us to plug directly into the original wiring harness. No cutting required. This means that we can install into even brand new vehicles without affecting warranty or causing any issues for the dealer.
A large suite of fabrication tools and a stock of different materials mean that we can create a solution for any requirement. Our amplifier panels like are made out of materials like Alucobond, as it’s easy to work with and lightweight without compromising strength. Subwoofer boxes are made from MDF or marine ply for rigidity, and then carpeted over for an OEM look. Speaker spacers are hand cut to size and shape to give us a supremely accurate fit without introducing any additional vibrations. We use OEM mounting points where possible to minimise impact on the vehicle, and add high strength mounts such as rivnuts where necessary to ensure a solid fit.
