A big car needs a big screen, and the Sony XAV-9500ES is certainly one big screen! This client wanted the impressive 10.1" display and the high sound quality that the Sony unit offers, but was worried that the screen might be a little oversized in their Cayenne. Once he saw the finished product he was thrilled, it's perfect in this dash.

We surprisingly still get quite a lot of enquiries for rear-seat entertainment, but DVDs are a thing of the past. These 11" screens have an Amazon FireTV built into each of them, so once connected up to a phone hotspot they have full access to all the streaming content you could want. They do also have DVD players just in case 😅

We posted the finished result a little while ago, but since we upgraded another Aston Martin with Carplay we thought why not show off what actually goes into one of these installations. The DB11 "waterfall" is a beautifully styled part of the car, but takes a ton of effort to remove correctly and in one piece. It doesn't matter how many of these we take apart, each requires the same amount of care and attention.

The MyLink system in the VF Commodore is painfully outdated, and we've always struggled to find integration systems to add modern functionality into those screens. Thanks to the very very hard work done by the iDatalink team here in Aus, we can now replace the unit with a system like this 9" Alpine screen, adding Carplay and Android Auto and retaining all of the OEM features like climate control display, optical parking sensors and the steering wheel controls.

This little Mini had a cheap Chinese head unit fitted to it, and our client just wanted to start fresh with a new system. We fitted the Sony XAV-9000ES as a nice, neat solution to the radio issues, and learned that the front speakers didn't work due to an aftermarket amplifier in the boot that had completely rusted through. We swapped it out for an Eton Micro 4 Channel and cleaned up the installation. The result was a really impressive little system and a client that had tears in her eyes when she listened to it for the first time.

We're stoked with how the Sony XAV-9000ES looks in this Porsche 981, and the customer was thrilled. This client approached us about adding wireless Carplay and Android Auto to a car that desperately needs a tech update, and left very impressed and happy with the result. Not only does he now have that functionality, the replacement head unit is a massive uptick in audio quality and the neat reversing camera brings the car fully into the 21st century.

Something a bit out of our usual wheelhouse, Zac at ABS Moorabbin asked for our assistance with an electronic parking brake for his Land Cruiser. The car was dropped off to us with the calipers fitted by him, and we took care of the rest. We made a custom 3D printed bracket to hold the ECU, ran the cable neatly along the chassis of the car and then integrated the new parking brake to come on with our AIS Tracking system's immobilizer, to prevent the car being towed away by a thief. This was a fantastic project to work with Zac on and we're looking forward to fitting more of these systems in future.

Some people might find it tiresome fitting so many Blackvue cameras, but we love it. Each car presents a fresh challenge of mounting location, cable runs and power wiring. And when we've solved all of these problems on a new car, we add it to our database to make sure we always have consistent installations. This Land Rover Defender is the third unique car we've done for this client, and he's left with a smile on his face every time.

The DB11 is still one of our favourite vehicles in terms of styling, and the waterfall dashboard is just gorgeous. But, as usual, it's let down by its immediately outdated infotainment. Fortunately we have a solution to seamlessly integrate Apple Carplay/Android Auto into these vehicles and bring them back into the modern era.
