Bentley Continental GT - Why you shouldn't let just anyone work on your car!

This customer purchased his Bentley Continental GT believing that the previous owner was a fastidious as he is. The vehicle was purchased with an aftermarket phone kit already installed by the previous owner. One would assume that a vehicle of this caliber would not be put in the hands of just anyone to install the kit. The new owner began to develop issues with the navigation system shortly after purchase and not even the authorised Bentley dealer (through no fault of their own ) could work out what was causing the issue. Automotive Integration was contacted to try and ascertain the reason why the navigation was locked in one location. When we removed the infotainment system, we were horrified with what we saw. The installed phone system was intercepting the data line of the vehicle and corrupting the data flow between the navigation computer and the infotainment system. After several hours of reconstructive wiring, re coding and fault code clearing, we reestablished the data network and restored the navigation to full operation  The lesson here is to ensure that the person you trust your pride and joy to knows more than how to talk the talk. Please see the before and after shots of the wiring below.

After several hours of removing and rewiring the damage done by an unqualified technician, the rear of the infotainment system looks like it did prior to the installation.
